In 1981, André ABET and the city of Cabestany decided to create the First Encounter Short Film Festival of Cabestany. It is truly a encounter, more than a festival, because everything is planned to promote exchange between audience and directors, like the numerous “verre de l’amitié” (friendship toasts), offered after each screening. The prize’s main theme is Mountain life, told and documented through a video that expresses the author's point of view and interpretation.

The Rural Film Festival was created in 2016 as an initiative presented by Lic. Emilio Quiroga to the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Ayacucho, with the goal of promoting audiovisual production in our city.
